Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results |
Lots of people don’t really understand what SEO is. Well, SEO stands for search engine optimisation. It is the art of getting a web page at the top of a search engine like Google. If you’re at the top you site will appear when someone types in your keyword. A keyword for example is “cheapest widget”. If you’re at the best spot in the search engines, ie the top spot you can be assured of lots of visitors, sometimes as many as 50%. Imagine getting half of everyone that types in a great keyword, and what that could do for your business. This is what we all should aim for. Many people pick the wrong keyword. They either pick a keyword that has no or little monthly traffic volumes and as such, even if they do get to the top of the results page, they wont have any visitors, or, they pick a keyword that has millions or sometimes billions of web pages to beat and then get disappointed when they are not at rank 1 within a few months. Picking the right keyword can be the difference between a winning SEO strategy and a loosing one. The best keyword approach is to review several factors such as a) how many competition web pages there are b) how strong the top 10 web pages are c) how much traffic the keywords received each month. From this you can calculate which keywords do you a) have a chance to be number 1 in and b) will give a good amount of traffic. A link is a hyper link on another site that points to you. The search engines consider a link as a “vote” that your website is a good website. The more votes, the higher you are in the results. If the websites that link to you are about the same or a similar subject the vote will carry more weight so it makes sense to try and gain links from other sites that are relevant to the topic of your website for maximum results.
