What exactly is spyware? Spyware is a form of malware that is used to gain valuable knowledge on a user, without them knowing that you are obtaining this information. This valuable knowledge can be anything from passwords and usernames to bank account and credit card information. It can even be as simple as a co-worker placing in a key logger on your computer to steal your passwords. Malware on the other hand is software that also installs itself on your computer without you knowing but its role is more or less to damage your computer. The fact that spyware is a piece of software that runs in the background of your computer without you knowing at all means that it is taking up resources that will eventually slow down your computer. This is why you should do your best to prevent spyware from installing itself on your computer. The main point here is that spyware is bad and you should always be protecting yourself against it at all costs. For the purpose of this article were going to discuss spyware and how to prevent it. To prevent spyware I personally use two pieces of software, one is used to scan and remove software that is either spyware or malware and the other is used to prevent spyware from coming in contact with my computer. The main program that I use is called MalwareBytes Anti Malware and is a completely free program. Just install it on your computer and then just do a full scan on your hard drive - it will then scan your entire hard drive for MalWare. I couldn’t recommend this anymore since what it does is it will look at every single file on your computer to make sure that it is not infected with MalWare or Spyware of some sort. Now, once a full scan is complete and you plan on doing another scan in the future just run a quick scan as it should do the trick. Unfortunately there is a downside to using the free version of this software- you have to manually update it by clicking on the update button (look at the bright side, at least it’s free) The second piece of software that I mainly use to defend my computer is called Spyware Blaster. Take note of the difference here: one program eliminates malware/spyware and the other prevents Malware and Spyware from ever coming in. The program will provide you will full protection as soon as you install it. By the way, you are also going to have to manaully update this program, just like the last one. See what most people fail to realize is that your computer can easily become infected if you don’t have the proper protection and those infections can become fatal to your data and even your computer hardware in the long run. Do You Think Registry Cleaners Truly Essential?

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results |
Differing opinions exist about the need for using registry cleaners to boost the performance of computers. While some reviews state they are a necessary program for optimizing performance and speedy startup, others state that they do more damage than good. These naysayers state that they are not just unnecessary, but can cause more harm than good. What a registry cleaner is designed to do is scan the registry of your computer for files that are unused, corrupt, fragmented or invalid. It can find virus or malaware entries that you may not be aware of. These files are then either deleted or quarantined. The claim is that you will experience a speedier start up and less problems with how programs run. However, since some of these files may be critical, you must have the ability to do manual removal with any cleaning program. Some experts claim that using a cleaner for your registry is a dangerous step. It can remove files that are actually necessary, such as DLL files, causing your system to crash or programs to malfunction. At best, they see the use of a cleaner gaining a bit of disk space and possible speedier start-up. Most computers today have enough disk space that the possible gain of a few kilobytes is irrelevant. One reviewer has even gone to the extent of calling registry cleaning programs ’snake oil’. It is possible that the free trials of cleaners give ambiguous information about registry errors, in hopes you will buy the program. Once installed and run, you may find that your computer is faster, and loads better. However, alternatively, you just may find that it has removed some necessary registry entries and you have lost or impaired functionality. Running the program will probably not speed up your computer noticeably, and you may even find it slower because it fragments the registry. Keeping your registry clean, program developers claim, will require scheduled maintenance. What they don’t say is that a few orphaned files or extra entries in the registry of your computer will not noticeably affect its functioning. You may even notice that the cleaner has marked and isolated needed files, labeled them as bad, and made them dysfunctional or removed them. Manual repair or alteration of your registry is a much safer way to go, if you are experiencing a problem. If your computer skills are not up to the task, then go hire an expert, or just leave it. With scant real data behind their claims, you should not trust software programs reviews. Instead of using registry cleaners, start with a clean system. Install only licensed programs, and keep the original programs so you can reinstall them if necessary. Avoid installing trial software and uninstalling it. Back up your data, especially the critical stuff. Keep your anti-virus and malaware systems up to date and running. Run disk cleanup and defragment your system on a regular basis. By taking these basic steps, you will never need to think about cleaning out your registry. Are you stressed over registry cleaners that don’t work and delete files that are critical? Well, with our program, you won’t have to worry. If you want to know more you should read our registry cleaners reviewed article. categories: data recovery, programming, database, software, personal computer, virus, spyware, web design, web development, personal computer, telecommunications, internet, web, computers |

A Brief Understanding Of Registry Cleaners

There are a variety of registry cleaners that are available on the market. Many of these offer different options that you can use to fix some common problems that you may be experiencing with your computer. For those who aren’t familiar with these types of programs, here is a short overview of how they properly work. For the most part, when there are repeated issues occurring on a computer, it is likely because of the registry. This can happen when there have been numerous programs installed into the computer, which later edit the registry in some format. If the registry never updates after the deletion of these programs or there are too many conflicting keys in the registry, it results in problems. There is a large amount of registry cleaner programs which can be used for treating the issue. You need to understand that though these are all cleaners, they are not going to give the same results. You will find many programs that will be offering various solutions to treat your computer problem. You should take time to research about the program before you commit to buying it. Many computers have enough registry problems that they need a more serious scan. You might expect that you will need to scan and use the program repeatedly before you are able to clean up most of the registry on your computer. In other scenarios, if you are using truly reliable cleaners, you might be able to try various settings that will allow you to get most of the registry problems on the first scan. All registry cleaner programs have to perform a scan before the real cleaning can happen. If no scan is occurring during the use of the program, then there is no way of knowing what the registry problems are. You might want to opt for using a cleaner that can tell you about specific problems after each scan. This will allow you to know what programs you should avoid using in order to prevent the problems from occurring again. It is very important that you are able to choose a registry cleaner that is trustworthy. You need to understand that even though there are many cleaners available for use, not all of them are going to give you the best results. You will likely come across a number of programs on the internet that also claim to be cleaners but are disguised malware. If you have been dealing with repeated problems on your computer, you may want to consider trying out a registry cleaner. Although registry cleaners are a good solution for registry problems, it’s important to understand that they are not able to fix everything. If you continue to have problems, you should take your computer to a technician for further help. Now you can get all the information you require to make your computer run more efficiently when you use the best registry cleaners available. When you see the registry cleaners reviewed, you will be able to choose the best cleaner for your system. categories: data recovery, programming, database, software, personal computer, virus, spyware, web design, web development, personal computer, telecommunications, internet, web, computers |

What You Should Know About Viruses And How To Protect Against Them

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results |
If you use the internet on a regular basis then you should be aware of some of the harmful things out there that can harm your computer. There are many different harmful things like malware and spyware but for the purposes of this article were going to discuss viruses and how you should protect yourself against them. A virus is basically a malicious piece of software that has been created with the sole intention of harming a computer. These programs are usually installed on your computer by simply pretending to be another program so that you will download and then install them. Once they are installed on your hard drive, they have full access to all of your file and usually will run in the background doing their “dirty” little tasks. This is one of the biggest reasons people’s computers slow down - these viruses will run in the background and eat up your computers resources without you even knowing about it. So, what’s the best way to stop a virus? Well the obvious answer to this would be to simply not go on the internet - but as we all that just isn’t possible. The alternative is to use an anti-virus program but this also opens another can of worms - which anti-virus programs out there will actually protect your computer without wasting money and not slowing down your computer? Luckily for you, I have used many different anti-virus programs over the course of a few years and I have my top two to recommend to you so you don’t have to waste your time or money (like I did) to figure them out. The first is called AVG Anti-Virus (just do a Google search for it). There is a free version and a paid version. Don’t worry if you don’t have the money for the paid one, I have used the free one for a few years now and it works just fine. The paid version of this software just has a few more features on it. When you do decided to use AVG, you are going to need to tune it to make your computer faster. There are many ways to configure AVG to do this, but we are going to focus on just one in this article, preventing AVG from performing a scan as soon as you turn on your computer. This obviously means that you are going to have to manually tell it to perform scan when it is convenient for you. Just click on “Computer Scanner”, select “Manage Scheduled Scans”, select “Edit Scan Schedule” and uncheck the box that says “Enable this task”. Now just click on save. The other anti-virus program that I recommend is called ESET Nod 32 Anti-Virus. Now there is only a paid version of this but that being said you do get a lot of protection, it is not annoying to use and you do not have to configure it at all. This is probably the best anti-virus that I have ever tired and I highly recommend it to anyone. A Little Secret On How To Reduce Time On Your Slow Computer

If you have done just about everything that you possibly can to make your computer as fast as it can go and are still looking for a bit more then you have come to right place, well sort of. See what most people don’t seem to realize is that you can actually be the main bottle neck that is slowing down your computer. There really are two things that are slowing your down: the first is that you really need to know how to type quickly and the second is that you need to know at least a few basic windows shortcuts. When it comes to typing properly realize that if you are one of those people that uses the hunt and peck method (hunt and peck is when you use your pointer finger from both hands to pick on one letter on the keyboard at a time) then you are drastically reducing your level of productivity. Take the time to learn how to type quickly. Yes you will start of really slow, but trust me it will be well worth it in the long run - spend some time now to save a lot of time in the long run. Now when it comes to using the windows keyboard shortcuts you are going to have to practice them in order to remember them so that you will be able to use them without thinking. Now keep in mind that most of the shortcuts that I am going to show you are just for the Windows environment and some can be used on most windows programs (like Office, Excel etc…). If there are some programs that you use frequently I suggest that you take the time to learn a few of the shortcuts that it has to offer - you spend a lot of time using the programs anyways, why no reduce the amount of time you spend looking for things on it? To start, if you switch from one application to another on the task bar (the task bar is that bar at the bottom of you screen that has shows which programs you have open) by clicking on them with the mouse, you are wasting your time. Try this: open a few programs like Notepad or the Calculator and hold down the Alt button and then press the Tab key a few times to cycle through your open programs. It’s a much quicker way to move from one program to the next without using your mouse. Now if you want to get to the task manger by using only on hand press Ctrl + Shift + Esc all on the left hand side of the keyboard. To close a program quickly use Alt + F4. To save a program use Ctrl + S. To go straight to your desktop use the combination: windows button + M. For the best perfomance I personally suggest that you practice these shortcuts as much as you possibly can as they will be able to increase your speed of using your computer. Trust me, it may seem like a lot of work, but in the end it will be well worth it. How To Stop A Frozen Program

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results |
A lot of people now a days are surfing the internet and are download and installing a lot of different types of programs from a lot of different sources. Now for the most part this isn’t of any concern as long as you are getting your programs from trusted websites that are known to be safe in the public domain. The issue comes up when you are using a program and it stops responding by hanging. This can be a real buzz kill and can kill your level of productivity when you are working. So what can you do to prevent this? Kill the program (by kill I mean to stop it from running). By why do some programs hang on your computer and the same programs don’t hand on other computers? Well the short answer is that it has to deal with your specific computers specifications and your computers exact problems. Sometimes when a program hangs, you will kill it and then Windows will then tell give you an error message. If you were to type that error message into Google (or any other search engine) you will get a description of the error as to why your computer hung. But why do some programs hang and others just don’t? Well the short answer to it all has to do with your computers specific configurations and its own unique problems. For example, your computer can have a small driver problem that will effect just one program but when you decided to run that same program on another computer it runs just fine. The second computer didn’t have that same driver problem and so it was able to run the program just fine. Sometimes when a program hangs, you kill it and then Windows tells you that a program had a problem. This is where Windows will give you an error code. You can type in that same error code to Google and try to figure out what the problem is. This tends to take a long time and involves a lot of detective work to resolve the problem. And as you might have been able to guess, its very specific to your computer’s specifications and your computers exact problems. So instead of trying to address the issue of how to completely stop a program from constantly hanging, I’m going to give you a quick fix: how to stop it from hanging for a really long period of time by killing it. There are 2 techniques that I am going to discuses here. The first is to open up your task manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc all at the same time). This will open up a window that will have a few tabs on it. Click on the tab that says Application. In there you will see a list of the applications that are running and their status. If an application that you suspect is “hanging” is on your computer, its status will say “Not Responding” under the status column. Now click on that application so that it is highlighted and at the bottom of the windows click on the button that says End Task. This will kill the application. Keep in mind that if you have any unsaved work on your computer and you end task a program you will loose all of the unsaved data, so use this cautiously. Now, the second best way to kill an application is to simply right click on it when you are in the Applications tab of the Task Manager (remember Ctrl + Shift + Esc all at the same time) and click on Go To Process. This will then take you to the Process tab with the program highlighted. All you have to do now is to just right click on the program that is highlighted and click on the End Process Tree option. A bit of caution here: when you perform the End Process Tree option you are killing the program that is hanging and also the programs that are linked to it. Now, if the program that you want to kill either has unsaved work or is important you should not kill it as you might stop other programs that are linked to it from running. Keep this in mind at all times when you want to use this technique. Could it really be true that your computers look might be the real reason why it runs slow? Yes, and no. Its part of the reason you have a slow computer, well actually it’s a small part of the reason your computer runs slow. Your computer runs slow because of all of the junk that builds up on it, but Windows has tuned its operating system to look good so that it will have user appeal. This holds especially true if you are using Windows Vista since Vista has a lot of unnecessary things that are running in the back ground that are designed to just make the computer look good. Here is how to tune down your computers looks to make it run faster: For those Windows XP users out there just click Start right click on My Computer and select Properties. Now select the Advanced tab and on the area where it says “Performance”, double click Settings. Now, in the Visual Effects tab a tthe top of the screen select Adjust For Best Performance. See, what you are now doing is forcing Windows XP to look more like Windows 98. For those of you what would like your computer to look somewhat good and still be tuned for performance just select the Custom box, make sure that all of the other boxes are selected and scroll down to the bottom. Now just select “Use Visual Styles On Windows And Buttons”. All you have to do now is just select Apply and then OK. If you are using Windows Vista on your maching stary by clicking on the Start button, right click on Computer and select Properties. In the new window on the left hand side select Advanced System Settings. There will be an advanced tab where it says Performance - click on the Settings button. Now when you are in the Visual Effects tab, select Adjust For Best Performance. This will cause your Windows Vista to look more like Windows 98. If you would like to keep the way that Vista looks, and still have your computers look tuned to be a bit faster, just select the Custom box, make sure that everything is selected and then unselect the little box that says “Use Visual Styles On Windows And Buttons”. Click Apply and then OK. So exactly how much of a performance boost should you expect? Usually not that much. I have used this technique on a lot of different computers that run both Windows XP and Vista and the results are very different. Usually for the most part, you will see more of a performance boost on the Vista computers, but with Vista this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of things that you can do to make it faster. For the most part, using this technique has no risk and you can only gain by using it so highly suggest giving it a try. Learn more about Registry Cleaners. Make Your Computer Faster By Deleting Your Computers Temp Files
Friday, June 18th, 2010|
Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results |
Why is your computer slow? Well the answer to that question is beyond the scope of this text but I will tell you that it has to do with your computer building up junk in many different areas in time. The more of these areas that you clean up the faster your computer will be - it’s that simple. Take a look at registry cleaners - they are designed to clean up all of the junk and inefficiencies that build up in your registry to make it faster. The only problem with registry cleaners is that they focus on one area of your computer which will only give you so much of an advantage while there are many different areas of your computer that need to be cleaned. This is why using registry cleaners really aren’t a complete solution to making your computer faster - they only clean one small area while there are many different areas that need to be either cleaned or tuned for performance. Your computer uses it’s RAM as a temporary working place. When some of these files are in RAM they also need a temporary working place of their own and they will use a folder on your hard drive called the temporary folder (or a Temp folder for short). When window’s is done working with these files in your temp folder it deletes them and everything is fine and dandy. The problem arises when you kill a program or when it freezes or hangs. What happens to the files in that folder is that they were never actually removed and after a while of this happening your Temp folder can build up a lot of files that are just slowing your computer down. Here’s a simple procedure to remove them: For those of you that are using Windows XP start off by simply closing all of your running files and programs and then clicking on the Start button. next, click on Run and type %Temp% in the little box that appears and then hit the enter button. Whats going to happen now is that you’re going to get another window that will show you what’s in the Temp folder. All you have to do now is to just delete everything that you can in that folder. If for what ever reason it says that you cannot delete a certain file, just skip it and then just move onto the next file. For those of you using Windows Vista, close all running programs and files and click Start, type Run in the start menu search box. When the Run window comes up type %Temp% and hit enter. Now delete everything that you see in that folder. If there are some files that you cannot delete, then just ignore them and move onto the next one. So what are benefits of deleting as many files as you can in the Temp folder? Well for starters, you will have more space on your hard drive. You will also speed up your computer because having these files on your computer can actually cause it to have some internal errors which will obviously slow your computer down.
