Search Engine Marketing: Off-Site Elements

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

I’m going to assume that you get enough about search engine marketing and social media that you already know what you have to do in order to optimize your pages to rank first in search engines. When you’ve finished your on-site elements, now it’s time to take a short look at the off-site elements which can be done so that you can better your ranking on Google.

Off-site elements are another crucial piece of search engine marketing. As you know, your ranking on Google is extremely important; if you are on the first page, your webpage is going to receive a vastly greater number of visitors than if you were on the tenth page. Because of this, everybody who runs a site for anything at all should want to become an expert on every aspect of search engine marketing.

As always, you have to keep in mind that your keywords are paramount. In case you aren’t familiar with the jargon, “keywords” are the terms you want to be found under on search engines. You need to compile a list of the keywords you’re presently going after as well as anything you want to try to rank for in the future. Without having a list of your keywords, you’ll never be able to accomplish anything at all when it comes to search engine marketing.

The crux of any SEO strategy should be getting backlinks, which is the industry term for links to your website. The reason that Google got so good is because their search engine had the lowest amount of spam: all of the other engines merely ranked pages based on the words that appeared in the text (which was comically easy to manipulate), whereas Google also factored in what other websites were saying about you, thereby creating a more spam-free result page. As you are aware, by taking away this level of manipulation has made SEO a much more complex process.

So, you’ve almost certainly asking yourself how you actually receive these backlinks. There really isn’t a easy answer to your question, even though it certainly is a good one. What you will be required to do is simply ask people for them. Offer to write guests posts on blogs related to your industry. Submit your website to as many directories as you can. Use social media. Create content that is so interesting and unique that people will want to link to it so that they can show it to people they know. At the end of the day, this is going to be a herculean task, but if you really want to rank highly on search engines, it’s what you must do.

We’ve all wasted countless hours online before and found ourselves wondering why certain things are so popular when our own blogs and pages are barely registering a hit a day. Laughing babies and LOLCats have taken over online culture. It begs the question of why social media has embraced the superfluous. For those trying to do business online and not just kill time, a social media agency can help give you the edge you need to gain more attention. And, as we all know, gaining attention means garnering more business.

If you’ve ever found yourself questioning why you can’t seem to break 6 Twitter followers or get more than 20 “likes” on your Facebook page, you’re not alone. By appealing to the people you want to attract through social media, it’s possible to generate more business and more positive buzz about what you do. The phenomenon of social networking makes it no surprise as to why social media has become a fast and effective way to gain attention. With millions of users around the world on platforms like Twitter and Facebook, the right strategy can take your brand from local to global.

Social media provides an unprecedented opportunity for people to network on a worldwide scale and make meaningful connections. A business using a social media agency can get the upper hand and cut through the white noise. After all, the Internet is currently a muddle of cat videos on Youtube and excessive celebrity tweets. A personal connection between business and client or customer helps to offer any company an advantage in going from one of many to one that has a specific appeal to whoever is browsing the Internet.

Competing with the barrage of information available at any web surfer’s fingertips means being able to bring the same smile to their face as an LOLCat while still providing a status update relevant to the business you’re trying to do. The advantage of using a social media agency is having someone who’s job it is to optimize the use social media to best suit your business. It’s easy to ignore the necessity of social media as a business tool. But the truth is that it may be one of the most useful cards for any person doing business online to have up their sleeve. With the right approach, your business could be getting as much buzz as those cute babbling twins on Youtube last year.

Any Internet user may ask why certain things go viral and gain popularity while others do not. However it’s no wonder why social media has become such a popular way of communicating for both entertainment and business purposes. The use of social media platforms, like Twitter and Facebook, can help mend the gap between business and customer to create more meaningful connections between the two. Of course, in order to successfully do so, social media tools must be used correctly. A social media agency can allow any business to build a sense of community between them and their customers and improve the quality of the work they do.

Search Engine Marketing, Business, and Other Service Sector Type Jobs Dominate U.S. Labor

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

The United States economy is a “how can I help you?” not a “what can I make you?” economy. Marketing and social media, search engine marketing, retail, banking, consulting, legal, and other service sector jobs are the foundation of the modern American labor system. Although manufacturing has not died out completely it lives in the shadows of the service industry. Television commercials exemplify this reality all day. Most of the television ads we view are for lawyer, health care, marketing, consulting, repair, recreation, and transportation services. What they all have in common is the “what can we do for you?” aspect. The other end of television advertising is promoting products and goods that were manufactured abroad. Most of the electronic tools, cars, household appliances, clothing, accessories, and durable goods that Americans purchase are manufactured in Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

In 2010 forty-seven percent of American work opportunities were in management and business. Management and business are vague terms that include a multiplicity of jobs across the service sector spectrum. Online marketing and social media services have been one of the fastest burgeoning business industries in America over the past ten years. The dawn of internet accessibility and mobile technology has created an entirely new niche in labor and employment. Search engine marketing professionals and social media gurus did not exist in the 1990s but are incredibly widespread today.

In the nineteenth century America was a prominent manufacturing and producing country. Textile and durable good manufacturers employed a great portion of the available American labor force. Antebellum Americans made most of the goods that they bought and used for their daily lives. Most clothing, furniture, tools, and appliances were made in the U.S.A. and manufacturing was a keystone of the American economy. But after the Civil War the social and economic landscape started to change. Industrial textile and agricultural machinery allowed manufacturers to produce more goods quicker and with a smaller workforce. Displaced workers trekked from farms and rural communities to the cities in search of new kinds of employment. These new urban dwellers grew into the new American middle class.

The positive trend in service sector employment was directly associated with the rise of the American middle class. The bedrock of the service sector was middle-class employment at department stores, restaurants, cafes, hotels, grocery stores, transportation companies, and business offices. Urban immigration and the rise of a middle class led to the arrival of the department stores and office buildings where most of these people worked. The urban landscape shifted as the social and economic landscape evolved. The service industry out competed the manufacturing industry by mid-twentieth century. Demand for doctors, lawyers, teachers, and other white-collar professionals was greater than the demand for miners, steel-workers and textile laborers.

Today that trend towards the service sector and away from the manufacturing sector continues albeit not as steadily. The American service industry is saturated with fast food restaurants, movie theaters, brand clothing stores, shopping malls, marketing and social media providers, mobile phone and internet services, electronic stores, repair businesses, and medical and legal assistants, just to name a very few. The latest addition to the industry has been positions related to search engine marketing and marketing and social media. The world wide web is the epitome of what the service industry is all about. The internet does not build physical products or goods. The internet provides a space for sharing, communicating, and trading ideas, knowledge, and media.

Could Major League Soccer Use Some More Web Marketing

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

In recent years soccer has developed a larger following in the United States. There have been several reasons as to why the sport is becoming more popular in the United States, but there are some events over the past few years that have really brought soccer towards the forefront of sports in America. While these events have helped soccer to become more popular it seems that Major League Soccer and the United States Soccer Federation could use the assistance of an Online Marketing Firm. Web marketing plays a important role in reaching mass amounts of individuals in short periods of time and raising awareness and interest in the goods and services of any organization.

The World Cup in 2010 and the Women’s World Cups in and 1991, 1999 especially 2011 have helped increase the interest in soccer across the United States. Having teams that can compete and win on the largest stage in the game is excellent for the growth of the game. Americans are starting to see that they can be proud to support their nation and have seen that there has been considerable growth in the talent of the game. More and more Americans are also coming to understand what the game means to the rest of the world and why it is the most popular sport on Earth.

Major League Soccer has taken steps to grow the sport in America, but there are still challenges ahead of them. There is still the challenge of competing with the big four sports in America, but soccer is slowly shortening the gap, and it’s possible that in a few years we will start saying the big five not the top four sports. MLS teams are also competing with the great franchises across the pond for fan support like Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and AC Milan just to name a few.

Clubs throughout Major League Soccer have signed the likes of international superstars David Beckham and Thierry Henry and are looking to sign more. The MLS also holds competitions between its franchises and franchises from premier leagues all over the world. These competitions have helped showcase the level of talent able to be produced in the United States. It shows that the teams from the United States’ top league can compete with the teams from the top leagues in Europe.

Along with the MLS bringing in talent from more successful players in other leagues and staging matches between their teams and European franchises, it seems that they could beef up their efforts in the web marketing department. Fan support on social media websites Facebook and Twitter seem to be on the low side. It seems that while the sport has grown in the United States, the MLS has not felt the same level of success as the entire sport has. Increasing their web presence and especially the social media presence can help them gain further popularity in the United States and across the globe.

Athletes and How They Practice Good Social Media Management Through Twitter

Athletes and Twitter are starting to be a beneficial relationship. Athletes now can go on Twitter and market their brand and their celebrity. Thanks to social media management athletes like Chad Ochocinco made himself well known through Twitter. Twitter gives you an inside look into what an athlete really is off the field, court, or ice. Which makes social media management so distinctive. You can upgrade a nobody player and make him famous through online marketing.

Ochocinco is infamous for his Twitter and how he uses it. Ochocinco uses his Twitter to promote giveaways by tweeting him or by saying extreme stuff. Ochocinco one time interrogate Sofia Vergara on a date through twitter. He is delightful on Twitter which makes him one of the most followed athletes. I personally feel because of Twitter its what got him that dating show he is building his brand through effective social media management.

Another athlete that uses Twitter to increase his image is Shaq. In fact he is the most famous athlete on Twitter. He averages 51 tweets a month he is very sharp when it comes to online marketing. He uses his Twitter account as an outlet to speak his mind and he intiate quite a stir especially his analysis of NBA games. He tends to give a very blunt evaluation of players that might ruffle a few feathers.

In addition Shaq another athlete that used Twitter for online marketing is NBA player Gilbert Arenas. The one-time Wizard tweets pictures of him planking. He also tweets the play by play of all his blind dates which can be enjoyable. One memorable moment was when one of his twitter antics actually cost him a lawsuit. Arenas sued his ex-fiancee to keep her from going on the next “Basketball Wives” show, alluded to his name, and telling the whole world his business. He lost because of Twitter and because of his constant criticizing of women in prior tweets.

Twitter can be a great tool to promote yourself as a brand especially for athletes. Twitter can turn you from a local name to a household as per Ochocinco. On the other hand you should use common sense when you tweet. If not you could face a lawsuit like Arenas did. Twitter can really help and get their point across to the masses. It also can help athletes connect with their fans. Which never was conceivable in the past.

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

As a starting business in today’s internet driven business field, one of the best ways to work to the top is through the cornerstone of web marketing, namely search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is the process of making a company a top search result when specific keywords are entered in any given search engine. It is the smartest way to get a company out in the open and into business as rapidly as possible.

Companies want their products or ideas to come up first in search engines because people on average always click one of those top few results. As an worker at an online marketing firm, I can tell you that is one of those dismal facts about the web. Popularity is a big influence over persons who search on the internet so having your company show up first shows them that your idea is precisely what they are looking for.

Nobody, especially in today’s society, wants to spend an hour slogging through ten pages of search results to find a specific company. In all reality, if your business does not pop up in the top few on a search engine people are not going to rifle through results to find it. If you’re not ranking among the first few, you might as well not exist.

Search engine optimization provides clients the simplicity for which they are looking. Search engine optimization makes finding ideas, products, and businesses in generally simpler way. Persons trust the top results in “Google” for example. How many people honestly spend the time going through the 45 pages of results that came up?

Half the time, even if a business pops up on page 2 of search results persons don’t see it. People want what they’re looking for to be the most popular and relevant site on the web. Search engine optimization is vital for companies that want to be out in the open and well known on the internet. Web marketing is the best way to advertise as well as the best way to start advertising and be noticed is through search engine optimization.

How The Red Sox Should Use Twitter PR To Improve Their Ranks, And Twitter For Business To Appear Less Miserable

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

How do you use Twitter PR appropriately? Twitter for business is a exceptional conception, especially if your the Boston Red Sox. Though they’re one of the most acclaimed teams in professional sports, it’s like Coke versus Pepsi. There’s always going to be one clear winner, one clear loser. Their evil empire campaign in 2004 might have helped boost their cause against the Yankees when they came back to win the AL championship game when down three games to none, a feat few teams have ever accomplished, but come on, really?

The Boston Red Sox are one of the most news worthy teams out there. News worthy of being epic failures. Honestly, until 2004 the last time they won it all was 1918, a chant Yankees fans enjoyed bellowing during games in the 1980’s, and 1990’s until 1996 when one of the greatest teams in baseball history took the field. To Yankees fans everywhere 2004, and 2007 were flukes, strange moments in time when the Universe just simply didn’t align properly.

This past September the world was reminded why the Red Sox are, well, seriously, the Red Sox. One of the most swaying crashes in professional sports history was only over shadowed by the Atlanta Braves collapsing at the same time. The Red Sox had blown an eleven game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays, who were in third place, to lose everything to them in a moment of Baseball brilliance. Down seven runs going into the seventh inning, one home run sealed the deal, and saved the Rays season, ending the Red Sox hopes of ever playing in the world series last year.

It was one of the most rememberable months in Baseball for Yankees fans, we witnessed our lead in the AL East amplified, climbing ahead to win 97 games, and appearing pretty promising. While at the same time, the Red Sox simply fell apart, falling behind dramatically, blowing second place to the Rays, falling into third place. What else is amazing is it all game down to the Red Sox closer to finish up the game against Baltimore. If they beat Baltimore at Fenway, and the Rays won in Tampa, they would essentially go to a one game playoff series, winner take all. Thanks to Papelbon, also known passionately to Yankees fans as Papelblown, the Red Sox season had ended.

Truth be told it’s almost in the Red Sox nature to fall apart. Many people say “well at least they’re not the Chicago Cubs,” True, but figure the Cubs. Though they’ve never honestly witnessed victory since 1904, they still grasp something the Red Sox never will, and that is Dynasty status. Face facts Red Sox fans, your team just sucks, they should use Twitter PR more effectively, maybe that can save another season for them.
