Strategies I Use To Promote My Website

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

With billions of websites, how do I promote my website to help people find me? This is the question I hear most often from professionals and small business owners. It is a very important question. More than 85% of people looking for a business use internet search. Being found should be a top priority for every business.

Most people who say, “I need to promote my website” think there will be one or two things they need to do once. Website promotion is an ongoing task. It is not enough to be one of the billions of websites or to be one of those that are being promoted. The question should be: How do I promote my website so I can rank in the top ten on the search engines?

More than 60 billion searches are performed online every month. Only 3% of those searches click beyond page one of the search results. Now that Google (at least) is including live social search results as well, ranking in the top ten for a keyword is essential.

How Do I Promote My Website?

The kind of website promotion that achieves those results requires an integrated marketing plan. You can manage it yourself, hire a marketing firm to do everything for you, or work with experts who will provide the expertise you need on your marketing team. Only you can what you have the time and knowledge to do and what you afford to outsource. Then you must customize to address your market and to best present your company. The way I promote my website will be different from the way you promote your website.

What are the Best Tactics to Promote My Website?

This is also a question I hear frequently. Here are the tactics I use to promote my website and that I believe will serve you well in promoting yours.

- A professionally-built and designed website

- Keyword Research

- Search Engine Optimization of your site and everything else

- PPC ads on search engines

- Use social media link to your site and to get people talking

- Blog actively (and include lots of links to your site)

- Links across pages of your site

- Develop content for your site regularly

- Market articles you write

- Get the attention of the media with press releases

- Submit the site to search engines, directories and indexes

- Take full advantage of local search

- Effective landing pages

- A lead generation strategy

- Invest in a lead management system of some kind

- Offer free items or information to get people to join your mailing list.

Once you master these tactics you will know how to “promote my website.” If you can learn how to do each of these tasks, or find someone who knows what they are doing, and you can weave these together into an integrated marketing and sales strategy - don’t forget sales - you will be well on your way to driving quality traffic to your site. This is the best advice I can offer when you ask me, “How do I promote my website?

Directory Submission Service

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

Directory submission is the process of taking an existing website and adding it to another. There are thousands of Directories all over the internet. A directory, known on the internet as a web directory is a website that offers a comprehensive list of other websites, services and products from around the internet. It is much like a telephone directory but on the web.

The benefit of having your website listed in a web directory is much like having your product or service listed in a telephone directory. If people do not know your company exist, then how will they find it? Having your website listed in a web directory gives an internet user more chance of stumbling across your website when looking for something in particular.

Directory submission is the term used for submitting your websites details to a web directory. In the process of submitting your site for inclusion into a directory the person submitting the site will have to provide details of the site he/she is submitting. The main details that will be needed for a successful directory submission are:

Website URL Website Title Website Category Website Description Name Email

Additional information may also be asked for when submitting a site like keywords for example. Keywords are words that are associated with your directory submission. This means when a person searches abstract art for example, and you have attached that keyword along with your site, then the search results will show your site as potential result for those keywords. Keywords can be very important as most web directories hold details of thousands of companies, and searching through them by a search term is a quicker way for a user to find what they are looking for.

Once your website has been submitted to a web directory, it is then up to the owner of that website to approve your directory submission or not. Factors that influence that decision include: whether the website is relevant to the category it has been submitted in, whether the website has good content, whether the website is complete and not still under construction. If your website matches all 3 of those criteria’s you will almost certainly be accepted. Sites that have a lower acceptance rate have one or all of these downfalls, or are in the categories of Adult or Warez sites, which are usually accepted less.

When a webmaster accepts your site for inclusion into his/hers web directory, you normally get an email, but not all web directories do this. Again once included, your site should then be visible to the search engines and will register as a backlink for that site. A backlink is a website linking to another website.

Backlinks are important to a websites success. The more of these you have the more chance people have of finding your product/service and the more chance you have of making sales in the online world. Directory submission is a fantastic way to achieve this. This is due to the shear amount of directories online and the amount of links that they can generate towards another website.

Submitting your website to one directory can be quite an easy task, and hey presto you have one backlink to your website, but if you want to be successful and have returning customers you need thousands of backlinks (thousands of other websites pointing to yours). Google and other search engines rank a website higher in their search results if you have lots of backlinks.

If you imagine it takes 5 minutes to do one directory submission, and you want to submit your website to 1000 directories, that works out to 5000 minutes of your time spent achieving this, 83.3 hours to be precise. Now directory submission seems like it could be way too time consuming to help you in your quest for sales and traffic.

What if I told you someone else can do the directory submission for you, and save you 83 hours of your life, allowing you to concentrate of other aspects of your website. I think everybody would jump at that opportunity.

So what is 83 hours worth? I personally value my time at $20 p/h. That would equate to $1660 of my time spent on directory submission and gaining backlinks to my website.

This is where a directory submission service comes in handy. There are a number of companies on the internet that offer directory submission allowing you to save your time and money and they also offer these services at extremely at low prices. Do not be put off by how low the prices are most use software which is capable of saving them time, but also providing a professional and efficient process in which to get your website included in web directories all over the internet. One particular directory submission service, listed this articles resource box, is able to offer you 1000 directory submissions for just $30!! That’s a saving of $1630, and 83 hours of your life. A very very small price to pay for such a saving.

Before searching google for hours trying to find a Directory Submission Service and being put off by their prices, make sure you use someone a service you can trust and who offer the best prices possible for your Directory Submission

Often enough, difficulties come up in business, and just when you think that you have found the perfect solution to your dilemma, you find yourself to be disappointed with the outcome of your decision.

Often enough, we find ourselves trying to develop our business into a larger and more successful one, but we do not know how to go about doing it.

All businesses must come to terms with the fact that in order to compete with other companies in today’s day and age, all information must be computerized and companies need to have company websites on the internet. To deny this would be to deny oneself a livelihood, as no company can rely on clients of years past forever. Therefore, steps must be taken in this direction in order to avoid such a regrettable mistake.

However, there are companies that do computerize their information and do put up company websites and still find themselves in financial situations that they wish they would not be in, neither growing nor advancing towards something bigger.

Of course, this can lead to frustration and, even worse, to the incorrect conclusion that the company internet website is a waste of time, money, and effort.

This is very far from the truth indeed. The company’s efforts are pointed in the right direction, but further assistance and guidance are needed in order to make things happen.

The most important thing for these companies to realize is the fact that their websites are not getting the desired amount of hits because they are not ranked high on search engines such as Google and Yahoo. Therefore, they do not appear as much on searches as they could and should be.

The next thing for companies to be aware of is the fact that they need to use companies such as Click Response that offer search engine optimization, which will help the company have higher rankings on Google and Yahoo. Help from a company like Click Response is sure to bring more traffic to websites and will help businesses develop.

The Importance of Backlinks For SEO

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

Anyone who has looked into getting their website optimised for search engines will more than likely have come across the term backlink. A backlink is a found on other people’s websites, and are hyperlinks that link back to your website. Search engines look for these backlinks to determine the relevance of a website. The example usually used to highlight the importance of backlinks is the search term “click here”. If you look in google or yahoo for this term you’ll no doubt find Acrobat Reader at No 1. So how can it rank so highly for a keyword term that is of no obviously relevance?

Take a look on the Acrobat Reader site… Serch for the term click here. I don’t think it even appears once on their site, but the reason Google thinks this is the most relevant page for that keyword is because millions of websites all over the world have a backlink to this site with the anchor text of “click here”. Search engines therefore deduce that Acrobat Reader’s site has to be the most relevant for this search term.

Good Quality Backlinks

So now you have seen that search engines use backlinks, so what makes a good backlink? Well, a backlink from a website that Google trusts is far more important than a backlink from a website that Google doesn’t trust. Therefore, backlinks from websites with a higher page rank are more important. If you can get a backlink from a website like Wikipedia for example, this would be considered a lot better than from a website that Google doesn’t know about.

Google also considers the quantity of backlinks, although this may not be as important as quality. The truth is, nobody really knows the Google algorithm.

Another way to improve the backlink is to make sure your backlinks come from pages that are relevant to your own. E.g. if someone owns an estate agent website and points a backlink at a dentist’s website, there is no relevance between the sites so Google will probably not put a lot of weight behind the backlink.

Creating backlinks

Backlinks can be created in a number of places online. You could reply to threads on forums, you could write articles or you could write blogs. All these methods allow you to place backlinks in your signature at the end of your post, thus creating backlinks. If you are serious about ranking well in Google and other search engines you must not ignore backlinks!

Today Your Employee Had a Problem At Home - Tomorrow is Your Problem Also

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

While your business runs, day-to day, everyone know the employee is an integral part of your business. Their personal problems become yours everyday. Employees are the base on which your business is built. Sometimes these personal problems may be misinterpreted as flaws in that employees character, which of course is not always true. You should of course address these problems but you may want to do so as a helpful investigation rather than reproach. Only by using these tactics can you determine whether the issue is actually a long-term character flaw or just a fixable problem that can be addressed and fixed.

Most issues that occur with employee performance and little or nothing to do with character. There are exceptions, of course, but if an employee has been performing fine for months or years you may want to look deeper into the problem before taking action. There are several commons problems that may influence your employees behavior: their home environment, training or ability to do a particular job, job functionality, or even an employees perception as to what is expected of them. If after investigation the employees problem is rooted in the work place, that is directly your problem and must be addressed. If little or nothing is proactively done to help the employee, and understand their problem your are only hurting yourself - and your productivity.

Communication errors when new employees are hired or reassigned are common causes of employee discontent. The long term employee who is performing his/her job well for years may quickly become discontented when an “outsider” is brought in, many times at a higher salary, to do a similar job function. Don’t ever think that your employees don’t know what each other makes in salary and benefits. They may not learn right away but soon they will all know at least in the abstract. Often a good performing established employee will become jealous or discontented quickly and either stop or do their job poorly feeling they are being taken advantage of by you. Perception and expectation problems can be solved quickly with a simple talk or company/department meeting.

Oft times the work-place is the root of employee discontent. Both the frame of mind and the physical work-place is important. Everyone should be treated well and if you have managers handling employees be sure they also understand this policy. If intra-employee conflict is present this must be solved immediately. Speaking to both employees at the same time as an impartial arbitrageur, trying to understand each side, will often bring the root cause to the fore-front. Many times the root problem is caused by one employees incorrect perception and discussion and new information will correct this issue. If it is an unspecified personality issue you may have to separate the to different departments, if possible, or ultimately terminate one or the other to restore the work-place to the proper state. Always be willing to talk out any issues with your employees. Just saying “I’m the boss” will not making for a happy atmosphere.

Optimize Search Engine Results | How to Optimize Search Engine Results | Optimize Search Engine Results

Did you ever wonder why some of your competition is on the first page of Google for your search terms, but you’re nowhere to be found? SEO is the reason. Optimizing your website is very important to how well your website performs for you. For you to make money on the web, you need eyeballs staring at your website, credit card in hand. The way this happens is to be on the first page of the major search engine. Utilizing SEO will help get you there.

OK, so what are the steps for you to get on that first page of Google? The first step is picking the keywords that you want to show up for on Google, Yahoo, and MSN. You must find the keywords that are appropriate for your business. There are many ways to find this out, as you will learn which words or phrases are more competitive than others. Using this information, as well as your knowledge of your product and industry will help you figure out which keywords you should use.

Keywords need to be included properly, because too few or too much can produce negative results. Using a keyword too sporadically won’t significantly align yourself with that topic or phrase. Using a keyword too heavily will label your site as SPAM and will result in you getting penalized by both the search engines and unhappy visitors. Therefore you need to find a happy medium of keyword inclusion. A keyword density of 2-4% is usually appropriate and will help produce results.

There’s a lot more to website SEO than just keywords. The other key to SEO gold is the links you get to your site. Both the number of links and the quality of those links will help determine where you will be in the search engines. Now, what is a link? A link is when another website has a clickable link that will lead to your website. Think of these links as a way to saying to Google “I have a friend on the web who likes me!” The better the friend is known, the better it is for you!

Now getting these high quality links is hard, but it will put money in your pocket in the long run! How do you get these links? You can utilize article marketing, that is, write short articles on your niche, and publish them all over the internet. You put as your signature your website, with it hyperlinked, and that now becomes an incoming link. This will help you rank on the search engines, and give your website some credibility within your industry!

The website SEO world is constantly changing, and becoming more competitive, too! I’ve given you a few tips to get you started. Website SEO is a constant headache, though; you have to be constantly working on it, and fine-tuning your efforts in order for it to work best. But, by starting with these tips, you’re well on the way to a successful website and business!
