The Internet is a great equalizer. You do not need a lot of money or a large staff to start an online business. A ready made website can be online in less time than it takes to scramble eggs. But, that doesn’t mean anyone will see it that soon. That’s why the “earn $1,000 in your first week” pitch you hear in the TV ads is pure fantasy. 3. Not everything sells well online. Having a site which sells 20 items people are unlikely to buy online is no better than having a site with one item folks are not inclined to order from a website. Pay attention to the products or services you’ll have to sell to make money. 4. If you have a website identical to dozens (or even thousands) of others, you will never achieve even moderately good search engine rankings. So, how will you get visitors to your site? You had better have a cost-effective method. 5. Our major automobile companies and banks have failed. So, why do people believe advertisers who tell them the “instant business” they wish to sell them is immune to failure? Instead of wasting time trying to answer this question, just be sure you don’t become one of the believers. Yes, you can succeed online. But, there is no one-size-fits-all formula. For starters, you need a good product at a competitive price, and a well conceived marketing plan that will enable you to get the right message to your target market cost-effectively. Also necessary is an understanding that building a successful business requires time and effort. Making money online is not rocket science. The text and images are obviously your first priority. You need to grab peoples attention and you want them to read the content on your site. It is very important that you pick the right font size that will be legible for someone with poor eyesight. The text also has to be easy to read for both humans and browsers. Use varying sizes for headers and text through your site to break up the text and help readers read easily, and it will help browsers catch keyword by its importance. Now here is an important piece to the design puzzle. I know I mentioned to make sure and have a font that is easy to read. Here is some assistance on that. As any seasoned web designer would tell you; it is best that you use system fonts. This is important because browsers read the fonts on your computers. Those are fonts that every individual with a computer will have. That is the reason why you should not use any other fonts other than the system fonts. This also makes sure that there are no compatibility issues between different browsers like safari and internet explorer.
